Our Vision

Worldwide environmental changes are challenging people to stay connected to their human essence. Sonic cultures reflect our humanity and our place in the eco-system. By listening to our surrounding sounds we deepen the connection with our environment. Through sound, Resonant Earth explores the cultural and ecological losses caused by structural violence, mineral extraction and urbanisation. We use collaborative sound art, workshops, screenings, and discussions to creatively document, discuss and preserve the soundscapes of communities where economic interests or violent threats disrupt or erase cultural and natural sounds. Our goal is to protect and amplify voices of fragile ecologies and their people.

Collaborative Sound-Art

Community-driven projects

Resonant Earth focuses on tribal and Indigenous communities that live in deep connection with their natural environment, carrying forward ancient wisdom about the essential bond between humans and nature. We believe the world has much to learn from their oral knowledge and traditions, which offer vital insights for reconnecting with this essence. Through ecological sound arts, we strive to convey a message of climate justice—one that speaks to the hearts of those who often overlook the cries of our Earth.

We aim to co-create projects inspired by the (transforming) sonic environments of the community. We start with the needs, knowledge and ideas from local communities, activists, artists and other important stakeholders, engaging them in each part of the process. By facilitating sound walks, participatory field recordings, and creative sessions we aim to collaboratively archive, preserve and discuss unique soundscapes.

Interdisciplinary work
Explore soundscapes from multiple perspectives.

  • Ecologists and Scientists to reveal ecological changes, such as biodiversity loss, water health, or forest degradation.
  • Cultural Practitioners and Anthropologists research the cultural and spiritual significance of sound in shaping human-environment relationships.
  • Music artists, Filmmakers, and Sound Designers creatively amplify these findings and stories in immersive, emotional formats that resonate with broad audiences.
  • Educators and Activists can bring these soundscapes into classrooms, public forums, and advocacy efforts to inspire change.
Cross-Cultural Resonance

Cross-Cultural

Environmental modification is causing cultural and natural loss all over the world. This goes along with the domination of industrial noise which can be overwhelming for everyone, no matter where you come from. Through this universal language of sound, we try to foster cross-cultural intimacy and understanding towards harsh realities. Our work is mainly focusing on tribal and Indigenous movements, however we seek to connect to anyone advocating human, cultural or ecological rights. Today, it is almost nowhere on earth possible to detect a sonic environment untouched by dominating, industrial noise. That’s why we focus on bringing together movements from all regions of the world, emphasizing our shared human ability to listen, to feel, and bring our creativity together for a fairer future.

Resonance

We use the concept of “resonance” to express how art and sound can raise awareness and create emotional connections to social and environmental issues. Resonance goes beyond language. It is an alternative for reasoning and reminds us of the interconnectedness between people and their environments through shared feelings and sensory experiences.

  • Creative forms like painting, poetry, and sound/visual compositions, help people connect more deeply with their inner essence and their place in the world.
